Firmware Update via SSH Updating a UniFi Network device (UAP, USW, USG) To SSH into your UniFi Network devices, you must enable Device SSH Authentication and create a user and password to use during your SSH session. This is a fairly simple matter using these steps at a high-level: Upgrade your current controller to at least something relatively current (to avoid configuration import issues). Click Update available and confirm your changes. If you already have a UniFi controller running, you’re going to want to migrate your data from that controller. Some users have changed the backend to use MongoDB 3 successfully too.Your UniFi Controller should now be accessible at the computer’s configured local or public IP address. The device will now appear with an update available in the UniFi Devices section. You can find the latest installation guide for Ubuntu here, and Debian here. If your distro does not come with MongoDB, and it’s not available in their repo, then please see the MongoDB installation guide. Make sure you add the 10gen GPG key, or apt will disable the repository (apt uses encryption keys to verify the repository is trusted and disables untrusted ones). If you arent using Debian or Ubuntu and have decided to roll your own with some other flavor of Linux like Centos, upgrading the UniFi software may not be.

This step may not be required, depending on the Linux distro you have. To use the packages, add a line to your /etc/apt/sources.list, then aptitude update and one of aptitude install mongodb-10gen, aptitude install mongodb-10gen-unstable. The UniFi Network application is pre-installed on UniFi Dream Machines (UDM and UDM-Pro) and UniFi Cloud Keys (UCK Gen2, UCK Gen2 Plus and UC-CK), so no manual installation is necessary.We recommend using one of these consoles for one-step setup and to get the most out of UniFi Network. Install and upgrade the UniFi controller. Note: If this results in an error, please check the User Tip below.
